DAY ONE RESULTS
MANY, La. (Nov. 8, 2005) – The University of New Orleans golf team leads by 10 strokes after two rounds of the Battle of the Bend held at the par-72, 6,707 yard Cypress Bend Golf Club.
Anthony Cantu (72-71), Adam Cornelson (70-71), Jason Kuperman (71-71) and Kenji Murayama (71-71) are each under par after the first two rounds. Their efforts have given the Privateers (-9) a double-digit lead over Rice (+1) heading into Wednesday's final round.
Cornelson (-3) sits in a fourth place tie for the individual title and trails Rice's Parker LaBarge (-6) by three strokes. Murayama (-2) and Kuperman (-2) are tied for sixth and are four strokes back. Cantu is at one-under-par and in a tenth place tie, while Mitch Ellis (+8) is tied for 34th.
Southeastern Louisiana (+5) sits in third behind UNO and Rice, while Tulane is in fourth (+10). Host Louisiana-Lafayette (+14), Sam Houston State (+15), Houston (+30), Nicholls State (+30), Stephen F. Austin (+31), Texas State (+35), McNeese State (+35), Texas-Pan American (+39), and Centenary (+51), round out the 12-team field.
