SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Feb. 21, 2006) - The University of New Orleans men's golf team combined to shoot a three round total of 896 (304-289-303) to finish 44-over-par and earn ninth place at the par-71, 6,691 yard UTSA Intercollegiate held at Oak Hills Country Club.
Adam Collins was the highest Privateer finisher in eighth place. Collins (+2) shot a 74 on the final day to finish the tournament with a three round total of 215.
Santiago Escobar (+10) had a final round 75 to finish in a 24th place tie, while Kenji Muryama (+19) earned a tie for 58th after firing a final round 77.
Anthony Cantu (+21) and Jason Kuperman (+21) each tied for 62nd place after shooting a 234 for the tournament.
Ryan Baca (-14) of Baylor won the individual title by 11 strokes over Matt Miller (-3) of Illinois State.
Baylor (+3) won the overall team championship, while Louisiana-Monroe (+16) came in second. Lamar (+18) finished in third, followed by Nebraska (+23), Illinois State (+30), Wichita State (+36), Sam Houston State (+37), Texas-San Antonio (+39), UNO, Rice (+45), Stephen F. Austin (+48), College of Charleston (+50), Marshall (+55), Texas Pan American (+57), DePaul (+73), Navy (+99) and Northern Iowa (+112).
