Men's Golf Captures ASU Indian Classic in Playoff

DAY ONE RESULTS | FINAL RESULTS

JONESBORO, Ark. (April, 11, 2006) -
The University of New Orleans men's golf team defeated Oral Roberts on the second hole of a team playoff to win the ASU Indian Classic held Tuesday at the par-72, 6,137-yard Ridge Point Country Club.

UNO (+31) and Oral Roberts (+31) finished regulation tied with an 895. The teams remained knotted after the 17th hole before the Privateers pulled it out on the 18th.

Kenji Murayama (+3) tied for third in the 85-player field after shooting a final round 76 to aid the Privateers to their second team title of the year. Murayama finished four strokes behind Northern Iowa's Derek Bohlen (-1) who claimed the individual title.

Adam Collins (+9) was the next highest Privateer finisher as he turned in a final round 74 to end the tournament in a 15th place tie.

Adam Cornelson (+11) was two strokes back in a 21st place tie after posting an 80.

Anthony Cantu (+14) and Mitch Ellis (+14) each tied for 34th place after having respective rounds of 77 and 76.

Arkansas-Little Rock (+37) and Missouri St. (+37) tied for third in the 15-team field. Arkansas St. (+39) was in fifth, followed by Northern Iowa (+41), Middle Tennessee (+44), Southern Illinois (+47), Southern Miss. (+48), Drake (+48), Samford (+50), South Florida (+52), Illinois St. (+57), Louisiana Tech (+67) and Troy (+68).

UNO will participate in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament beginning Monday at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
