2012 UNO Baseball Roster
NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans baseball program will hold a 'Black and Blue World Series' in-conjunction with an Alumni Weekend during the first week of November, head baseball coach Bruce Peddie announced on Wednesday.
The 'Black and Blue' World Series represents the conclusion of fall baseball practice will get underway on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. with games to follow on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.
All three contests will be held at Maestri Field with the series finale on Sunday featuring 'Family Day'.
In conjunction with the annual fall series, the baseball program will host an Alumni Weekend.
The opening event is a cocktail hour that is scheduled for the Wyndham Hotel on Convention Blvd. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.
The festivities continue on Saturday, Nov. 5 with the third annual baseball golf tournament at Stonebridge Golf Club. Open to the public with a 12 p.m. shotgun start, lunch will be served at 11 a.m. with a steak dinner to follow the completion of the golf tournament.
For those not participating in the golf event, an 'Open House' will take place at Maestri Field on Nov. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m.
During the two-hour window, those interested can view the renovated clubhouse and check in on the progress of the Privateer Park stadium construction project. An opportunity to take batting practice will also be available.
The Alumni Weekend will come to a close on the evening of Nov. 5 with an 'Alumni Dinner' at Zephyr Field beginning at 7 p.m. There is a $20 charge for the meal.
Featured attendees during the weekend will include current Kansas City Royals second baseman Johnny Giavotella, as well a pair of Chicago Cubs in manager Mike Quade and front office staffer Randy Bush.
