FRISCO, Texas – Five New Orleans Privateers baseball student-athletes were selected to the Southland All-Academic Team which the conference office announced on Thursday afternoon.
Dylan Biddick,
Eli Tidwell,
Luke Lycette,
Owen Smith and
Dathan Cummings all earned spots on the team.
Biddick had a 3.60 GPA in his first year with the Privateer program. An Interdisciplinary Studies major, Biddick finished sixth in the Southland in on-base percentage at a .440 clip. He hit for a .316 batting average with 13 doubles, 12 homers and 37 RBI on the season.
Tidwell achieved high marks in the classroom with a 3.91 GPA as a Finance major. The utility player slotted in three different positions defensively for the Privateers. Tidwell led the team in runs scored with 45 and had a .985 fielding percentage in 133 chances.
Lycette was a two-time Southland Pitcher of the Week this season. On the field, he accrued five wins and three saves in 20 appearances. He worked 43 innings, mostly out of the pen in 2026. Lycette had a 3.33 GPA in Higher Education.
Smith sported a 3.56 GPA this year as a Business Administration major. He was second on the team and tied for eighth in the Southland in stolen bases with 13. Smith also parked nine home runs and drove in 37 on the season.
Cummings became the everyday starter at third base by mid-season. In 36 games played, he hit .290 with 16 RBI. Cummings ended the season on a hot streak by collecting a hit in nine straight games. He earned a 3.90 GPA as an Interdisciplinary Studies major.
The baseball program has had multiple selections on the Southland All-Academic Team every year dating back to 2021. In that span, 18 Privateers have earned all-academic honors.
