UNO Drops 9-2 Decision to No. 22 Tulane

NEW ORLEANS - No. 22 Tulane scored the first six runs of the ballgame, including four in the fourth inning on way to a 9-2 victory over the University of New Orleans on Friday night at Turchin Stadium.

Conrad Flynn (2-2) held UNO (1-16) to just four hits and two runs in six innings to get the win for Tulane (14-4).

Jeremy Schaffer and Garrett Cannizaro had matching 4-for-5 performances at the plate for the Green Wave with Cannizaro joining teammate Nick Schneeberger with three RBIs apiece.

Tyler Sanders (0-4) pitched seven innings for the Privateers, allowing eight runs on 13 hits, while striking out two. Coby Landry pitched the final inning, allowing one run on three hits.

UNO tallied five hits in the game with Cameron Wheeless leading the way with a 2-for-4 effort.

Tulane scored a run apiece in the first and third innings before knocking in four in the fourth.

In the seventh inning, the Privateers struck for a pair of runs. Wheeless singled in Nolan Church with a Steffan Farrell sacrifice fly bringing home Michael Tedesco.

The Green Wave answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh before a single run in the eight capped the evening.

The two teams will continue their series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
