SMC's Second Complete Game Shutout of Weekend Sweeps UNO

Privateer Bullpen Keeps Gaels in Check

OAKLAND, Calif. - For the second time this weekend, Saint Mary's College received a complete game shutout from its starting pitcher as the Gaels completed a three-game sweep of the University of New Orleans with a 7-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Two days after SMC (9-11) starter Mike Anderson went the distance, Kyle Barraclough (1-3) threw nine innings and allowed just three hits, while striking out eight and walking one. The win was the fourth in a row for the Gaels and their third complete game shutout in

Beau Boudreaux accounted for two of UNO's (1-22) hits in the game, going 2-for-4 at the plate with Cameron Wheeless adding the other hit.

SMC scored seven runs over the first five innings against Privateer starter Garrett Manning (0-3). The Gaels scored two runs in the opening inning before adding one in the third, three in the fourth and their final tally in the fifth inning.

An error by Manning opened the door for two of the runs in the fourth inning as Manning finished with seven runs allowed - five earned - on nine hits over five innings. UNO relievers Scott Stonestreet, Coby Landry and Nolan Church pitched a single frame apice after Manning departed.

Michael Gastellum led SMC with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate as the hosts finished with 10 hits. Danny Hayes was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Toby DeMello picked up two hits in four plate appearances.

UNO will play six games over six days beginning on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. contest at Turchin Stadium against Tulane. The Privateers will follow the contest up with a game at Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before beginning a four-game series at San Diego on Friday.
