SAN DIEGO – San Diego scored 11 runs over the first four innings on Friday night, ending a nine-game losing streak with an 11-3 victory over the University of New Orleans on Friday night at Cunningham Field.

UNO (1-24) opened the game with a Beau Boudreaux triple, which was followed by a Nolan Church sacrifice fly on way to a 1-0 lead.  Boudreaux, who hit 2-for-3 during the game, represented the first score for the visiting squad in 21-innings.

The Privateers only yielded the tying run in the bottom half of the inning after USD (5-17) loaded the bases with no outs on three straight singles.

Though they would only score a single run in the first, the hitting continued for the Toreros,  who would lead 11-1 by the conclusion of the fourth inning. USD scored five more runs in the second before adding three in the third and two more in the fourth.

Calvin Drummond (2-4) won for the first time in his last five decisions for the West Coast Conference preseason favorite. Drummond allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out seven in eight innings before Max MacNabb pitched a scoreless ninth.

Dillion Checkal and Corey LeVier posted matching 3-for-5 performances at the plate for USD with Checkal adding three runs and three RBIs. LeVier scored two runs with two others – Julian Duran and Kevin Muno – also contributing three hits.

Zach Kelt (1-5) took the loss for the Privateers after allowing six runs on eight hits in two innings before Kyle Blancaneaux relieved the UNO starter. After giving up five runs in his first two innings, Blancaneaux settled down by holding USD off the scoreboard during the next three innings with Cory Myers blanking the Torreros in the eighth.

The other Privateer runs came from Cameron Wheeless, who scored on a Michael Tedesco fielder's choice in the fourth inning and a Steffan Farrell home run in the fifth inning. Farrell was 2-for-3 in the game to join Boudreaux as UNO's players with multiple hits.

The two teams will continue their series on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT with a doubleheader. Live stats and video for both games are available at USDToreros.com.
