HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of New Orleans baseball team will travel to Pete Taylor Park to begin a three-game series against No. 25 Southern Miss on Friday night at 6 p.m. The teams will continue their series on Saturday at 2 p.m. before taking the field on Sunday at 1 p.m.

All three games will have live video, audio and stats available on SouthernMiss.com.

UNO (3-29) has had five days off since defeating Alabama A&M 5-4 in 11 innings on Sunday and will look to put together a pair of wins for the first time this season on Friday night against nationally-ranked USM (24-8). The Privateers are no stranger to ranked foes, having faced current Baseball America No. 23 Troy while also playing LSU and Tulane while those teams were amongst the top 25.

Chris Geronimo leads UNO entering the weekend with a .262 batting average while Cameron Wheeless is second with a .257 batting average. Wheeless was one of the top hitters against AAMU last weekend, batting 5-of-9 against the Bulldogs with two multi-hit games.

Head coach Bruce Peddie's squad has also received a lift as of late from Steffan Farrell and Jake Palmisano. Farrell is 10-for-24 over the last two weekend series while Palmisano has hit .429 in a limited role to enter the weekend on a six-game hitting streak.

UNO will send Zach Kelt (1-6, 9.26 ERA) to the mound on Friday to oppose USM's all-time leader in wins Todd McInnis (5-1, 2.90 ERA). Tyler Sanders (1-7, 10.67 ERA) returns to the starting rotation on Saturday for the Privateers to face Geoffrey Thomas (6-2, 2.96 ERA) with Scott Stonestreet (1-1, 6.75 ERA) matching up with Johnathan Thompson (3-0, 4.63 ERA) on Sunday.

USM has won two in a row, including an 8-6 victory over Ole Miss on Tuesday night on a neutral field in Pearl, Miss. This season, the squad is 13-2 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Golden Eagles are hitting .306 as a team, led by the trio of Adam Doleac, Marc Bourgeiois and Tyler Koelling. Doleac leads the team with a .379 batting average and is followed by Bourgeois and Koelling with .378 and .376 batting averages, respectively.

Following this weekend's road series, UNO will bring to a conclusion the team's two month, 33-game journey away from Maestri Field with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch against Nicholls on Tuesday. The game is the team's 'Autism Speaks' night in-conjunction with the UNO chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.
