NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans baseball team will begin their final week of the regular season on Tuesday as LSU visits Maestri Field for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to enter the UNO East Campus on Press Drive and will be subject to a $5 parking fee – cash only. Gates to the facility will open at 4:30 p.m.

UNO (3-47) will turn its attention to finishing out the home slate this week with four games on the Lakefront after completing a 38-game road schedule last weekend at Kansas State.

Privateer head coach Bruce Peddie will start senior right-handed pitcher Tyler Sanders (1-10, 8.45 ERA) against LSU (33-19).

Sanders lasted just three innings in his previous appearance against KSU on Friday night and will make his second appearance against the Tigers this year.  In LSU's 13-0 victory on Feb. 22, Sanders pitched an inning of scoreless relief – his third such appearance at the start of the season – which earned him a spot in the weekend rotation.

Offensively, Jake Palmisano has emerged as UNO's top hitter with a .274 batting average. Palmisano is followed by Cameron Wheeless (.256 avg), who returned over the weekend after missing 13 games due to injury.

Right-handed pitcher Tyler Jones (3-0, 6.75 ERA) will make the start for Paul Maineri's Tigers. Jones appeared in the previous contest between UNO and LSU, making his Tigers' debut by allowing three hits over fine innings, striking out six.

The Tigers' righted their ship offensively by pounding out 50 hits in a three-game sweep of Tennessee this past weekend. Mikie Mahtook leads LSU in batting average (.370), triples (four), home runs (13), RBIs (50), slugging percentage (.691), walks (37) and on-base percentage (.482)

Following the contest against the Tigers, UNO will host former LSU head coach Smoke Laval's North Florida squad starting Thursday. The teams will play at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and 2 p.m. on Friday before concluding with 'Senior Day' on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Tickets & Parking for UNO-LSU Baseball Game

Tickets for the contest are still available at the Lakefront Arena box office and TicketMaster.com at a cost of $15 for adults and $10 for youth. The Maestri Field ticket office will open at 4:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to enter the UNO East Campus via Press Drive due to an event at Lakefront Arena that begins at 3 p.m. Entering through Press Drive will assist in alleviating traffic congestion around UNO's East Campus.

Privateer Athletic Foundation (PAF) Tailgate

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. – the Privateer Athletic Foundation (PAF) will conduct a tailgate in the area adjacent to the recently revamped UNO clubhouse. The tailgate will feature free food and drinks, as well as an opportunity to join PAF and socialize with coaches and members of the UNO athletic department staff.
