UNO Women's Basketball Falls to Seton Hall

Lady Privateers Handed Defeat at Big East Foe

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Four players scored in double-figures to lead Seton Hall to a 82-35 victory over New Orleans on Wednesday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium.

Terry Green led the group of players in double-figures with 15 points as SHU (4-7) snapped a three-game losing streak.  Green made 5 of 6 three-point attempts as the Pirates connected on 9 of 16 shots from beyond the arc for a 56.3 percent clip as a team.

SHU's offensive production was also bolstered by Ka-Deidre Simmons, who accomplished a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.

UNO (1-10) was led in the defeat by Amber Clay with 12 points. Clay was just two points shy of her career-high of 14 established against Southeastern Louisiana last month.

Mathilde Fogelstrom pulled down eight of the Lady Privateers' 28 rebounds in the contest. UNO struggled offensively, shooting a season-low 23.5 percent from the field while committing 22 turnovers.

SHU led the game 11-0 before Mechel'le Thomas scored five straight points, beginning with a steal that led to a jumper on the other end of the court with 13:41 remaining in the first half to make it an 11-5 game.

Green responded with consecutive three-pointers and launched an effort which saw the hosts outscore UNO 34-12 until the half, sending the Pirates into the break with a 45-17 advantage. The Lady Privateers added 17 points to their tally in the second half while SHU scored 37.
