UNO Women's Golf Makes Debut, Challenges William Carey in Dual Wednesday

Competition is first for UNO women's golf program since 2005.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of New Orleans women's golf program will take to the course for the first time in nearly seven years on Wednesday at 10 a.m. as it takes part in a dual match against William Carey.

The dual will be held at Shadow Ridge Golf Club.

The UNO women's golf program was restored last summer alongside men's and women's cross country, increasing the amount of sports sponsored by the University to 10. The team last competed during the 2004-05 season before the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina led to the suspension of the program and eight others.

UNO will be represented by Emily Boudreaux, Mia Hock, Kristin Kelley, Rosine Pema Sanga and Emily Ziegler. The quintet will take on WCU in a head-to-head dual in which the five golfers will face off against their counterparts from the Crusaders.

Following 18 holes of golf, the top four individual scores from both squads will be added to determine the winner of the dual.

This week's competition is one of the three on the docket for the Privateers.

UNO will compete in both the West Georgia Golf Invitational (Mar. 17-18) and Hal Sutton Invitational (Mar. 26-27) next month.
