LAKE CHARLES, La. – Coming off a 7-0 victory on Sunday against Delta State, the University of New Orleans will look to begin a winning streak at McNeese State and Southern this week.

UNO (14-21) will visit MSU (15-18) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before challenging SU (21-14). Live stats and audio of Tuesday's contest will be available online at links provided on UNOPrivateers.com.

The Privateers have been the recipients of solid starting pitching performances in three of the last four games.
Alex Smith (1-0, 2.89 ERA) led off the string by allowing two hits in five innings in a 9-4 win against William Carey last Wednesday. He was followed by Stone Speer (3-4, 4.13), who yielded a single earned run on six hits in eight innings against DSU in a 3-2 loss.

Jake Fabre (4-6, 4.50) rounded out the success on Sunday with a complete game shutout, in which he allowed just five hits during nine innings of work. Smith and Cory Hoffman (2-2, 3.50) are likely options for head coach Bruce Peddie as UNO attempts to continue the string of starting success mid-week.

At the plate, Stefan Farrell snapped a 1-for-25 skid with a 2-for-3 performance on Sunday. Farrell has snapped rough stretches with big days previously and Sunday's effort included a pair of two-run homeruns that accounted for 4 of 7 runs scored by the Privateers.

Clint Coleman and Cameron Wheeless are hitting .322 and .301, respectively to lead UNO. Coleman paces the squad in runs (25) and RBIs (21) while Wheeless and Blake LeBlanc are knotted at eight doubles and two triples apiece.

MSU defeated UNO 7-2 last week at Maestri Field in a game in which the Cowboys did not allow the Privateers on the scoreboard until the final frame.  This past weekend, MSU built off that win with victories in 2 of 3 against Stephen F. Austin.

Jason Gibson (1-1, 6.35) was the winning pitcher last week and could be counted on again. Caleb Miller (1-2, 11.30) could also be an option for the Pokes. Seth Granger is the top hitter with a .331 batting average, which included two hits in last week's contest against UNO.

SU currently finds itself in second place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's West Division. The Jaguars mid-week starter has been Daniel Garcia (2-1, 4.71), who allowed two earned runs over 8.1 innings in a narrow 3-2 win over Louisiana-Lafayette last week.

Derrick Hopkins is the top hitter for the program with a .349 batting average while Cameron McGriff leads SU in runs (27), hits (41), home runs (five) and RBIs (32).

Following the two mid-week contests, UNO will continue its current 10-game road swing with a trio of games at North Alabama this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Saturday before concluding the series with a game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
