LAKE CHARLES, La. – McNeese State defeated the University of New Orleans 7-0 on Tuesday night at Cowboy Diamond.

Trey McGee (2-0) threw seven shutout innings for MSU (16-18) and held UNO (14-22) to just two hits. The Privateers tacked on an additional hit against reliever Ryan Sampere, who along with Tyler Parke threw an inning apiece to round out the combined shutout.

UNO starter Cory Hoffman (2-3) pitched admirably, allowing two runs on five hits during 5.2 innings of work. The effort kept the Privateers within reach of the Cowboys before the hosts struck for three unearned runs in the seventh against relief pitcher Kyle Blancaneaux to grab a 5-0 lead.

MSU added two more runs to their tally in the eighth to complete their offensive production.

The Cowboys were led at the plate by the trio of Matt Henry, Seth Granger and Tyler Klouser, all of whom contributed 2-for-4 outings.

UNO's three hits in the contest came courtesy of Blake LeBlanc, Beau Boudreaux and Stefan Farrell.

The Privateers will head to Lee-Hines Field in Baton Rouge, La. on Wednesday for a contest against Southern (21-14). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
