BATON ROUGE, La. -  The University of New Orleans baseball team will return to Lee-Hines Field for the second time in six days as they visit Southern on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

UNO (14-26) fell 9-4 in the previous meeting against SU (25-14) last Wednesday.

In last week's contest, Cameron Wheeless was 3-for-4 to lead the Privateer offense. Wheeless followed the game with two hits in five at-bats in the series opener against North Alabama.

Fellow senior Blake LeBlanc also proved to be an offensive weapon for the squad last week. LeBlanc went 7-for-17 with hits in all five games en route to a .412 batting average for the week.

A third senior, Clint Coleman leads the team with a .317 batting average on the season while joining LeBlanc and Wheeless atop most important offensive categories.

UNO starting pitching options include Cory Myers (1-3, 6.31 ERA) and Alex Smith (1-1, 6.75). Myers last started on Apr. 14 against Delta State while Smith was the pitcher of record against the Jaguars last week.

Any Privateer pitcher that takes the mound will face one of the hottest teams in the country. SU has won 10 games, currently the third-longest streak in the nation at the NCAA Division I level behind Baylor (24) and Utah Valley (19).

For the second straight week, Daniel Garcia (3-1, 4.46 ERA) will get the nod for the Jaguars. Garcia allowed four runs - two earned - on eight hits in six innings against the Privateers last Wednesday.

Derrick Hopkins and Cameron McGriff are the top hitters for SU this season with batting averages of .347 and .320, respectively.  Hopkins scored three runs against UNO in the previous encounter while Stephen Wallace accounted for six RBIs following a 4-for-5 effort at the plate.

Following Tuesday's game, the Privateers will turn around to host Tougaloo on Friday and Saturday at Maestri Field. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 6:30 p.m. before playing a doubleheader to close the slate on Saturday at 2 p.m.
