NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans baseball team's 2012 season will conclude this weekend following a three-game series against Tougaloo at Maestri Field.

The teams will play a single game at 6:30 p.m. on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Saturday. All three games will be aired live on WGSO 990 AM and streamed on WGSO.com.

Prior to first pitch on Saturday, UNO (14-27) will honor its eight senior players.

Redshirt senior and starting pitcher Cory Myers is the longest-tenured of a group that includes Beau Boudreaux, Clint Coleman, Stefan Farrell, Cory Hoffman, Blake LeBlanc, Brandon Simon and Cameron Wheeless.

Each member of the senior class has played a critical role on the team this year as position players Boudreaux, Coleman, Farrell, LeBlanc, Simon and Wheeless regularly holding down spots in head coach Bruce Peddie's lineup.

Seniors can be found atop most offensive categories this year, starting with Coleman, who leads the squad in batting average (.310), stolen bases (14) and runs scored (29).  Wheeless tops the club in home runs (three) and slugging percentage (.438) while Boudreaux follows suit in walks (20), sacrifice flies (six) and on-base percentage (.374).

Like their fellow seniors, the two pitchers in the group – Myers and Hoffman – have been fixtures in either the starting rotation or out of the bullpen for the length of the season.

Myers (1-3, 6.31 ERA) picked up a win on the mound for the first time since 2009 at Alabama-Huntsville in March and notched his first career save in a victory at Christian Brothers. A long reliever at the beginning of the year, Hoffman (2-4, 3.67) has made four starts in April and won games against Valdosta State and Spring Hill.

The Privateers will face a TU (4-40) program that has dropped 15 in a row since sweeping a doubleheader against Division II Lane College. All four Bulldog wins have come against LC this season.

Dustin Porter and Rodney McKay lead TU with batting averages of .328 and .300, respectively. In addition to getting on base, Porter is the most likely to reach home for the Bulldogs with a team-best 28 runs.

Weekend pitchers likely will include McKay (1-8, 5.95 ERA), John Alford (1-8, 9.21) and AJ Sanders (1-7, 12.48). TU has a 9.71 ERA this season compared to their opponents, who have a 3.10 mark on the mound.

Following the weekend, UNO will head into 2013, when Peddie anticipates playing a full NCAA Division I schedule.

The Privateer head coach has been active recruiting and filling a schedule in anticipation of the 2013 campaign at the NCAA's top tier, which comes on the heels of a March announcement that the institution would remain at the Division I level.
