NEW ORLEANS – Mobile built a 6-0 advantage in their first four trips to the plate and claimed an 11-1 win over the University of New Orleans at Maestri Field on Tuesday night.

UM (19-18) totaled 20 hits in the contest and scored runs in 6 of 9 innings.

The Rams scored a single run in the second and third frames, before posting four in the fourth inning. The four-run fourth was the final inning of work for UNO (12-15) starter Cory Hoffman (2-1), who allowed six runs – five earned – on nine hits.

Trailing 6-0, the Privateers posted their lone run of the game off Corey Fountain (2-2) in the bottom of the fourth when Jonathan Coco singled in Stefan Farrell.

Coco went 3-for-4 in the contest to lead a UNO squad, which trailed 9-1 by the end of the seventh inning. The three hits by the first baseman matched a career-high established against Nicholls State on Mar. 13.

UM added two more runs in the eighth before Privateer reliever Garrett Manning held the Rams off the scoreboard in the ninth.

Fountain ended up allowing six hits over seven innings. The UM starter gave up the run to Farrell while fanning five.  Drew Esslinger and Shake Ikner threw an inning of scoreless relief for the Rams.

Six players had at least two hits for UM, led by Ryan Parazine who posted three hits in six at-bats, including a home run in the second inning. Parazine scored three runs in the contest.

The Privateers were originally slated to head to Jackson, Miss. for a Wednesday doubleheader against Tougaloo that was canceled due to inclement weather. Instead, UNO will remain at home on Friday to start a three-game series against West Alabama with first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
