Privateers Face Ranked North Carolina in Myrtle Beach


Myrtle Beach, SC- The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (0-8) will take on the 15th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels (8-2) on Monday evening at the Convention Center in Myrtle Beach. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

UNO is coming off a 71-42 loss on Saturday against Louisiana-Lafayette. Two freshmen set new career highs in the loss. Jewel Angelo put up 15 points and Octavia Wilson added 12 points. The Privateers shot 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

Mathilde Fogelstrom leads the team on the glass. She pulled in a season-high 14 boards on Saturday, her third game of the season with double figures in rebounds. Fogelstrom is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game.

The Tar Heels have four players who average double figures in points. They are led offensively by Diamond DeShields who averages 15.5 points per game. Stephanie Mavunga is averaging a double double this season with 14.0 points and 10.6 boards per contest. North Carolina averages 86.3 points per game as a team, which ranks them in the top 15 in the country to date.

This is the first of a five-game road trip for Coach Keeshawn Davenport's Privateers. They will trek to Southern Mississippi (12/21) and Utah Valley State (12/28) before starting conference with their first two games on the road against Nicholls State and McNeese State.
