NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team will head Uptown on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. meeting with Tulane as the First NBC Bank Cup resumes.
Live stats and video will be available through the TulaneGreenWave.com web site.
The game will be broadcast locally on the host institution's flagship of 106.1 FM with Tuesday's start time representing a change from the original schedule due to limitations on the amount of night games that can be staged at Turchin Stadium.
In the midst of a 13-game stretch on the road, UNO (3-18) will play TU (12-10) for the second time this season. The Green Wave claimed the previous match-up by a 5-3 score on Feb. 27.
In the last encounter,
Reese Kanter was one of the three Privateer players to contribute at least two hits. Kanter had been successful at the plate as of late, bolstering his average from .172 on Mar. 9 to a .291 batting average on Mar. 17 while hitting 11-for-26 (.423) over the last 10 days.
On the season, Kanter ranks second behind
Andre Damiens for the team lead in batting average. Damiens is hitting .364 for the season and joined Kanter with a pair of hits in the previous meeting against TU.
Rounding out the top trio of hitters for the Privateers is
Chaz Boyer. Boyer is hitting .278 on the season and currently stands alone in leading the team in multi-hit games (six), runs scored (12), hits (22), total bases (31) and stolen bases (9).
On the mound, UNO will send left-handed pitcher
Stephen Potter (0-0, 3.86 ERA) against the Green Wave. An All-Region selection for Central Lafourche High School a year ago, Potter will be making his first career start in Tuesday's contest and last appeared this past weekend when he threw 2.1 innings of relief against Houston.
TU will counter Potter with either right-handed Emerson Gibbs (0-0, 4.38 ERA) or Randy LeBlanc (0-2, 7.11 ERA). Gibbs threw against UNO on Feb. 27, scattering three hits over 3.1 innings of relief.
Brennan Middleton leads the Green Wave with a .341 batting average followed by Sean Potkay and Garrett Cannizaro with batting averages of .297 and .257, respectively.
TU enters the mid-week contest after winning 2 of 3 against Texas-San Antonio and will open Conference USA play this weekend. The Green Wave lead the all-time series against the Privateers 75-57.
Following the mid-week contest, UNO will head to Grambling for three games starting with a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
