Box Score UNO-Campbell Box Score

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – No. 29 Campbell allowed just a pair of hits to New Orleans on Friday night in a 6-0 victory at Jim Perry Stadium.

UNO (7-43) freshman outfielder Chaz Boyer was credited with both hits for the Privateers, each of which came against Campbell (45-9) starting pitcher Heath Bowers (9-2). Bowers lasted seven innings on the mound, striking out nine while allowing just four runners to reach base.

Bowers was relieved by Logan Self, who completed the shutout by throwing two scoreless frames.

Boyer's single to lead off the first and fourth innings accounted for the Privateer hits in the contest. Boyer was also hit by pitch in the seventh inning during a 2-for-3 performance. Dan Perkins was the only other UNO batter to reach base after also being hit by pitch in the seventh inning by Bowers.

While the Camels were receiving a solid performance on the mound, the team was able to score six runs in the contest, five of which came during the first three innings.

Campbell scored two runs in their first trip to the plate; taking advantage of a pair of Ben McQuown steals in the inning, two passed balls and a Michael Felton RBI single for a 2-0 lead. A pair of errors, four hits and McQuown's third stolen base factored into a three-run third inning.  McQuown entered the weekend series as the nation's top theft with 45 stolen bases to his credit and went 2-for-3 in the contest.

Privateer starter Daniel Martinez (0-3) did not allow an additional run during his stint in the game finishing with five runs allowed – four earned – on 12 hits during six innings. Campbell added one final run in the seventh against UNO relief pitcher Stephen Potter before Garrett Manning threw a scoreless eighth for the Privateers.

Felton was 3-for-4 with two runs to lead the Camels, who also received a pair of hits from Will Albertson and David Olson.

The teams will meet once more on Saturday at 12 p.m. The contest will serve as UNO's season finale.
