MONROE, La. – The New Orleans women's golf team will continue its 2013-14 season on Monday and Tuesday in the Fred Marx Invitational hosted by ULM.
The tournament will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with 36 holes of golf on tap for Monday followed by 18 more on Tuesday. All three rounds will take place at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
UNO assistant coach Meredith Haro's lineup for this event will feature three players who contested the team's season opener on Sept 9-10 in Memphis. That trio consists of freshmen
Lauren Aillet,
Florence King and
Emily Pellerin.
Aillet finished tied for 46
th at the season opening event and leads the team with an 82 scoring average.
Florence King is second on the squad with an 83 strokes per round average with Pellerin averaging a score of 85 each round. King tied for 49
th at Memphis with Pellerin three strokes back in a tie for 59
th.
Joining the trio will be freshman Brenda Gonzales and junior
Pair Noibanchong.
A native of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, Gonzales will be making her UNO debut while Noibanchong enters the campaign as the Privateers' top returning golfer from a season ago. Noibanchong averaged a score of 81.1 strokes per round and finished in a tie for 48
th at last year's event at Bayou Desiard.
This week's tournament field in Monroe, La. will include Southland Confence foes Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McNeese State, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin. Other teams competing will consist of Jackson State, McClennan (Texas) CC, Oklahoma City, South Alabama, Troy and host ULM.
