NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (4-12, 0-3 Southland) continues its crosstown rivalry series with the Tulane Green Wave (10-8, 3-3 C-USA) on Wednesday at Maestri Field at First NBC Ballpark.  First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

The two teams have met 135 teams with Tulane leading the all-time series 77-58. The Green Wave were 3-1 against New Orleans in 2013. All four games were decided by two runs or less, and were played at Tulane. The last time the Privateers hosted a contest against Tulane was in a 16-15 win on Mar. 9, 2010.

Freshman Hezekiah Randolph continued his strong start to the season while pushing his hitting streak to 12 games. Randolph collected a hit in all three games against No. 18 Sam Houston State, and racked up five RBIs while going 5-for-12 at the plate. Randolph also leads the team with three home runs.

The Privateers struggled overall at the plate, hitting just .202 as a team against the Bearkats on the weekend. New Orleans was out-scored 16-1 from the sixth inning on in the three games combined after grabbing early leads in each contest.

Tulane has sputtered of late, losing five of their last six contests heading into this week. The Green Wave lost two of three in last weekend's conference series to East Carolina. The last time the Privateers took a season series from Tulane was in 2010, taking two of three games.

Offensively, Richard Carthon leads the Green Wave with a .344 batting average and has also drawn a team high nine walks. Carthon also paces the team in runs scored (16), on-base percentage (.457), and stolen bases (three).

Garrett Deschamp has a team-best 22 RBI on the season, which also ranks him in the top 20 nationally. Deschamp is also hitting .308, and is tied for the team lead in extra base hits with eight. The Green Wave are hitting .253 as a team while opponents have a collective batting average of .284 against Tulane pitching.

First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. Free audio is available at unoprivateers.com, and video is also available to UNO Showcase subscribers.
