Buy TicketsNEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (8-17, 1-8 Southland) looks to bounce back off a tough weekend against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (15-13, 6-3 C-USA) on Tuesday at Maestri Field at First NBC Ballpark.
The Privateers suffered three one-run losses at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the weekend after sweeping a mid-week series against Alcorn State. New Orleans lost two of those games in 10 innings, and has now played in eight contests decided by a run. The Privateers are 3-5 in those games.
New Orleans is 1-3 in extra-inning games this season after two 10-inning losses on the weekend. Dating back to last season, the Privateers have lost seven of their last eight games, which have gone beyond nine innings.
Privateers pitchers recorded a team ERA of 1.86 against the Islanders. However, New Orleans hit just .176 at the plate and collected just 18 hits.
Samuel Capielano led the way with eight hits on the weekend.
Jonathan Santana and
Nick Morgan were the only other players to record multiple hits in the series (both players had two each).

New Orleans and Southern Miss had their scheduled game in Hattiesburg cancelled due to inclement weather. Since the Golden Eagles had that game rained out, they have gone 8-3 including a win against nationally ranked Ole Miss. In the most recent series, the Golden Eagles took two of three from conference foe, Florida Atlantic. This is the fifth game of a six-game road trip for Southern Miss.
Offensively, Matt Durst leads the club with a .323 batting average and is tied for the team lead in home runs with three. Durst has also recorded 17 RBI, and is hitting .389 since the Golden Eagles started conference play. As a team, the Golden Eagles have a .245 average. Southern Miss has stolen 10 bases while opponents have 38 steals in 50 attempts.
