Today's featured student-athlete is tennis senior Soledad Calderon Arroyo.Q: What is your favorite food and why do you like that food?A: Gazpacho!! Gazpacho is a type of Andalusian food made with vegetables, especially tomatoes and green peppers. It is similar to a tomato soup but we eat it cold. Everyone should try it!
Q: How many years have you been doing your sport?A: 15 years. I started when I was 5 and my coach became like my second dad.. a lifetime with him!
Q: Before a game do you have a pregame routine?A: Yes, I usually go to the restroom with my music on and do all the warm up with my fav songs so I get all excited and concentrate.
Q: Which game/event are you the most excited about in the upcoming season?A: All of them!! I am always super excited, and that's what helps me give my best. But I guess the matches that are for the Southland Conference make me even more excited.
Q: If your team/you win the Southland Conference, the first thing you will do is?A: Yell, shout, and celebrate like I've never done in my life!
Q: Which was your worst game/event?A: Last year against Abilene Christian's number one girl. I was so nervous that I could barely hold my racket. I didn't feel comfortable at all, and I played so bad that I went to the restroom to cry.
Q: What would you like the most as a school mascot?A: I love Laffite! He's so cool and cheerful that makes my day every time I see him.
Q: If you didn't come to UNO, where would you be right now?A: Somewhere in the middle of Tennessee… Nothing compare to UNO! #unoproud
Q: If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose? A: Tennis for sure! I would have them hitting aaaaaaall day long…
Q: What is your best non-athletic talent?A: Singing in the shower, I am the best at it! And also getting my roommates mad, I have an awesome ability for that.
Q: What is the last book you read and how was it?A: It was about a month ago. I read it in Spanish so I am not sure about the tittle in English. It would be the "Shortest story about time" from Stephen Hawking. AMAZING.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?A: To the moon. Or somewhere up in space. I've been always crazy about the universe and I am so curious about what is up there. I wish I could see everything from a spaceship!
Q: If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?A: Buy a car in New Orleans. I am so used to having my own car back home that it is a real pain when I get here and I have to walk to the courts… I swear it's too hot for walking!!
Q: Who is the person who has influenced you the most in your life and why?A: My dad! I am so grateful for everything he's done for me. I wouldn't be here without him.
Q: Are you a cat or dog person?A: Dog!
Q: If you could meet one celebrity who would it be and why?A: Roger Federer. He's just THE ONE.
Q: What is your favorite meal of the day?A: Lunch is awesome.
Q: What's your favorite color?A: Blue, always blue.
Q: What is your favorite all-time movie?A: Nothing like Gladiator, guys.
Q: What is your favorite off-day activity?A: Watching movies or TV shows.
Q: Do you have a favorite T.V. show and why do you like that show?A: Grey's Anatomy. I've watched ten seasons in 3 months.
Q: Do you have a favorite song to sing in the shower?A: Everything sounds well from inside the shower.
Q: Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi?A: Coke!!
Q: What is your favorite season?A: Summer!
Q: N'Sync or Backstreet Boys (and don't lie and say you didn't have a favorite)?A: Backstreet Boys!!!
Q: If you could date an athlete, who would it be?A: Myself.
Q: If you travel with a time machine, would you go back to the past or into the future?A: Future.
