THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers baseball team looks to shake off a tough start to the season as they travel to face the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. First pitch was moved up from what was originally a 6 p.m. start due to expected freezing temperatures in the evening.

The Privateers finished on the short end of a three-game sweep, falling 8-6 at South Alabama on Sunday. New Orleans led from the second inning until surrendering a three-run eighth. The Privateers had five players record two hits in the loss. New Orleans racked up 31 hits over the three-game series.

Southern Miss polished off a three-game sweep of Murray State, holding on for a 6-5 win on Sunday to close the series. The Golden Eagles gave up a three-run eighth which cut their lead to one, but Ryan Milton struck out two Racers batters and pitched a clean ninth inning for his second save of the weekend.

The Golden Eagles have won 12 straight against New Orleans dating back to the 2008 season. Dylan Burdeaux went 9-for-13 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs, and six runs to lead the Golden Eagles' offense in the opening weekend. In 2014, Southern Miss finished third in C-USA and won 35 games.
