BOX SCOREĀ NEW ORLEANS, La. ā The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (6-5, 0-2) could not overcome playing short-handed and lost a pair of three-set singles matches in a 5-2 loss to the Nicholls Colonels (5-2, 1-0) on Friday at the University Tennis Center.

Playing short-handed due to an injury that kept
Yasmine Rashad from the match, the Privateers were short a duo for doubles.
Anna Segarra Rius and
Anja Luethi rallied back from a 5-2 deficit to win the next two games, but fell short losing 8-6 and clinching the doubles point for Nicholls.

In singles,
Soledad Calderon Arroyo fought back after falling behind early against Stephanie Barnett. Calderon dropped the first set at 7-5, but took the second set 6-3. Barnett took the third set at 6-1. The Privateers wound up on the short end of another three-set match when
Anja Luethi lost 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 to Marie Aubert.

New Orleans picked up singles wins from
Marta Sans and
Anna Segarra Rius. Sans defeated Klara Skopac 6-4, 6-3. Segarra blitzed by Milou Pietersz 6-2, 6-1. New Orleans was playing with only five players due to an injury to
Yasmine Rashad.

The Privateers will be back in action next Saturday at home against Lamar. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
