BOX SCORENEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (3-1) went perfect in four of five matches in singles in a 6-0 victory over the Loyola Wolfpack (0-3) on Tuesday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
Both teams only had five active players in total. The Privateers were without
Soledad Calderon Arroyo who could not play due to illness. New Orleans coasted by in singles with
Anja Luethi and
Anna Segarra Rius winning 6-1 at #1 doubles.
Hafsa Laraibi and
Yasmine Rashad won their match 6-0 at the 2 doubles position to secure the first point.
In singles, the Privateers could only be stopped by a weather delay that halted the match for 10 minutes. Segarra, Rashad, Laraibi, and
Marta Sans each won their singles match at 6-0, 6-0. Luethi played at the 1 position for the first time in her collegiate career and defeated Meghan de Baroncelli 6-1, 6-1 to cap the victory.
The Privateers will next travel to face Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, Feb. 7. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
