GSU | USC | MERCERATLANTA, Ga. – The New Orleans sand volleyball team made its long-awaited debut this Wednesday, playing in the program's first ever competition at the Diggin' Duals at Georgia State.

The Privateers started off 0-3 in the program's young history, taking 0-5 losses to the host team Georgia State, Southeastern Conference foe South Carolina and Mercer.

Brooklyn Frank and
Kelsea Hundtoft teamed up at the No. 2 spot against the Panthers, taking 21-10 and 21-13 losses while the No. 5 pairing of Taylor Berry and Keke Irby put up 10 points in each set at 21-10, 21-10, to start off the day.

Frank and Hundtoft again put up a strong showing against South Carolina, putting up 21-11, 21-12 sets.
Sophie Gracey and
Camila Lau made things close at the No. 4 spot, putting up 14 points in the opening set before falling 21-14, 21-8.

In the closest match of the day, Courtney Roblez and
Ashley Everett took Mercer to the brink in the opening set, 21-15, before slipping-up in the second 21-14. Gracey and Lau again put up a fierce showing, earning double-digit points in both sets at No. 4, 21-10, 21-11.

The Privateers will then have a quick turnaround, returning to New Orleans to take part in the Tulane Pelican Classic this Friday and Saturday.
