BOX SCORENEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (9-7, 2-4) had several matches go three sets, but fell 6-1 to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (8-6, 2-2) on Tuesday at the University Tennis Center.
It was a hard fought battle for the doubles point. The Islanders' top pair of Celia Rodriguez and Maider Martin jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held serve from there for an 8-3 victory. The other two matches were closely contested, but
Anna Segarra Rius and
Anja Luethi had their serve broken and fell behind 5-3. Segarra and Luethi attempted to rally, but fell 8-6. The third doubles match went unfinished with
Hafsa Laraibi and
Yasmine Rashad ahead 6-5.

In singles,
Soledad Calderon Arroyo earned the only point for the Privateers with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win over Judit Vives. Calderon held serve to finish off the first set in her favor. It was one of three matches to go the full three sets.

Anja Luethi bounced back from dropping the first set to push her opponent, Jelena Dzinic to the third set. However, Dzinic came out on top defeating Luethi 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. In another match that went three sets, Laraibi jumped ahead after the first set, but dropped the next two to Chelsea Horan.
