HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (6-9, 0-3) lost the final game of the series on a walk-off single in extra innings and fell by scores of 11-0 and 3-2 to the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Saturday at Don Sanders Stadium.

After a one-out single by Dylan Ebbs that went up the middle, Spence Rahm followed with a double off the wall to put runners on second and third. Collin Yelich looped a single to left center for the walk off hit that capped off the sweep for the Bearkats.

At the start of the final game, Daniel Martinez loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning, but only gave up one run off the early trouble on an RBI ground out. Martinez then went through the second inning on six pitches after using 26 tosses to get out of the first.

The Bearkats would add a second run in the third on a two-out RBI single by Dylan Ebbs to stretch the lead to 2-0 and held that advantage until the ninth. After a one-out single and back-to-back walks, Preston Marsh delivered a two-run single that knotted the game at 2-2 giving the Privateers their first runs of the day.

In the first game, the Privateers got off to a shaky start in the field and fell 11-0. A first inning error allowed lead-off hitter, Colt Atwood to reach base. He eventually scored on a double by Zach Smith to give the Bearkats a 1-0 lead.

Spence Rahm followed with a solo shot, the first homer of the series for either side in the second inning to make it 2-0. The Bearkats punched across two more runs in the frame as New Orleans committed three errors in the first two innings.

Logan Boyd went the distance for the second complete game by a Bearkats pitcher this season. Boyd threw 99 pitches and 67 for strikes while striking out five Privateers. Smith went 3-for-5 at the plate in the win.

The Privateers got a two-hit effort by Ryan Calloway. Chaz Boyer reached base twice with a single and a walk. Shawn Semple went six innings and gave up seven runs (four earned) while walking one and striking out two.
