Women's Tennis Prepares for Final Home Match Against Southeastern

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (12-9, 2-5) finishes their home slate on Tuesday in a match against the Southeastern Lions (11-6, 3-5) on Tuesday at the University Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Privateers enter the week one game out of a spot in the conference tournament. Lamar currently holds the eighth and final spot with a 3-6 record. New Orleans has three conference matches remaining with the last two taking place on the road.

With 15 singles wins in spring, Hafsa Lariaibi became the ninth player since 2000-01 to achieve that mark. Laraibi has won five consecutive matches and all of them have been finished in straight sets. In the winning streak, Laraibi has dropped a total of 13 games in 10 sets.

In doubles, Anja Luethi and Anna Segarra Rius combined to become the first tandem to reach 10 victories during the spring season, achieving the mark on Apr. 10 against Alcorn State. Luethi and Segarra are 6-3 in their last nine matches after starting the year 4-7.

For Southeastern, they enter having won a non-conference bout against Morehead State on Apr. 8. Out of 17 matches, Southeastern has played five away from home and has a 3-2 mark in those matches. Entering the week, the Lions are in seventh place in the conference standings.

Renee Villarreal has been an anchor at the top of the rotation, going 15-1 in spring. Villarreal's only loss came in Southeastern's most recent match at Morehead State when she lost in three sets to Andrea Leblanc. Villarreal has played all 16 matches at the 1 position. In doubles, Villarreal has played with two different teammates and is 7-6 overall.

Madina Vorotnikova has also been a solid player at the back of the rotation, going 12-3 to date. Vorotnikova is 4-1 at the 5 spot and 8-2 at the 6 position. In conference, Vorotnikova has won six of eight matches.
