SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (14-9, 4-6 Southland) finished five singles matches in straight sets as part of a 7-0 victory over the Incarnate Word Cardinals (2-20, 0-10) on Friday afternoon at the UIW Tennis Courts.

The day started with the Privateers snaring the doubles point with wins at the 2 and 3 positions.
Anna Segarra Rius and
Anja Luethi set the tone with an 8-2 victory and
Yasmine Rashad and
Hafsa Laraibi closed the doubles proceedings with an 8-4 decision.

In singles, the Privateers had one clean sweep and four matches that were won with three or fewer games dropped. Segarra earned a 6-0, 6-0 win while Luethi continued her strong close to the regular season with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at #3 singles. Laraibi turned in yet another dominant performance with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Soledad Calderon Arroyo and
Marta Sans also turned in straight set victories.
Yasmine Rashad finished off the shutout decision with a three-set victory. After dropping the first set 6-4, Rashad came back to take the second set 6-3 and the final set at 10-5. The win marked the fourth straight for the Privateers.

New Orleans will close the regular season on Sunday at McNeese State. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
