BOX SCORENEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (10-8, 2-5 Southland) swept the back half of the singles rotation, but fell just short in a 4-3 loss to the Northwestern State Lady Demons (9-7, 5-1) on Friday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.

The Lady Demons won the doubles point in short order. Nationally ranked doubles tandem, Natalya Krutova and Tatiana Larina won their match at the 1 spot 8-1 to set the tone. The Lady Demons also took the second doubles match 8-3 to wrap up the opening point.

Five of the six singles matches went straight sets, but the Privateers swept the 4 through 6 spots in the rotation.
Hafsa Laraibi turned in a 6-2, 6-1 victory while
Anna Segarra Rius and
Yasmine Rashad each won their singles match by a 6-3, 6-3 score line.

The Lady Demons took the top two singles matches in straight sets making the difference the #3 singles bout.
Marta Sans dropped the first set to Aliona Ladutska but came back to win the second set 6-2 and carry the match to a third and deciding set. Ladutska prevailed 6-4 in the final set to preserve the win for Northwestern State.

New Orleans is back in action on Saturday against Stephen F. Austin. The match is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
