THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (11-20, 2-10 Southland) face their first ranked opponent of the season when they travel to Baton Rouge to take on the 4th-ranked LSU Tigers (27-5, 8-4 SEC) on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

The Privateers were swept over the weekend against McNeese State, dropping to 2-10 in conference and three games behind the eighth spot. New Orleans could not hold onto late leads in the final two games of the weekend. The Privateers are seventh in the conference in batting average (.264) and 11th in ERA (4.39).

The Tigers were extended over the weekend in a three-game sweep over Alabama. LSU played 38 total innings including 16 in the series opener and 13 in the series finale. Eight regulars for the Tigers are batting over .300, led by Kade Scivicque who is hitting .380 and is on a 15-game hitting streak.

Alex Bregman has reached base safely in 29 straight games while also co-leading the team in home runs (seven) and leading the way in RBIs (31). Coach Paul Mainieri is in his ninth season in Baton Rouge and is closing in on 400 wins with the Tigers (currently at 388). Mainieri was inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame in 2014.
