BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (2-0) executed another clean sweep as they posted a 7-0 victory over the Southern Jaguars (0-2) on Saturday afternoon at the University Courts.

The Privateers held strong at the 2 and 3 spots in doubles to earn the opening point of the match. Both contests finished at 6-3 in favor of New Orleans.
Anna Segarra Rius and
Soledad Calderon Arroyo paired up to defeat the Jaguars' #2 pair.
Hafsa Laraibi and
Yasmine Rashad made their spring doubles debut with a 6-3 victory over D'Jeri Raymond and Mia Kent.
"They played really well and I'm proud of them," said Coach
Burzis Kanga. "This was a good Southern team who we beat 4-3 last year and to sweep them 7-0, I couldn't be happier. The girls were very methodical and it was a good win."

In singles, the Privateers swept the board with two matches going to three sets.
Trang Dao rallied back from losing the first set at 6-3 to take the next two sets 6-4, 10-6. Segarra and her opponent, Darnesha Moore traded the first two sets at 6-3 score lines before Segarra won the deciding set 10-6 at #1 singles.

Calderon, Laraibi,
Anja Luethi, and
Paula Garriga Ullate each posted straight set victories. Garriga has now won her first two singles matches of her collegiate career. Laraibi, Luethi, and Calderon each coasted to singles victories and neither dropped more than four games in their respective match.

The victory marks the 11
th straight for the Privateers against the Jaguars. Next up is a home match against Jackson State on Saturday, Feb. 6.
