The University of New Orleans baseball team (16-8, 4-5 Southland) looks to bounce back from a tough weekend series against a team they have had great success against historically when they face the Jackson State Tigers (12-10, 3-3 SWAC) on Tuesday at Maestri Field at First NBC Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Privateers are coming in off three straight losses at Lamar. It was the first time this season, UNO has lost a weekend series. On the final day of the series, the Privateers rallied back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but surrendered the game-deciding runs in the bottom of the inning.

"We've got to go out there and bounce back," said Coach Blake Dean. "We typically have had pretty good success on our home field and we've just got to get back to what we've been doing throughout the majority of this season."

UNO has enjoyed a sustained run of success against the SWAC foes from the state capital of Mississippi. All-time, the Privateers hold a 62-11 record against the Tigers. Last season, UNO won both meetings against Jackson State and out-scored the Tigers 23-6. The last Jackson State victory over UNO came in 2013.

Bryan Warzek is slated to get the starting call for the Tuesday tilt. Last week, Warzek threw seven shutout innings and picked up his first collegiate victory against South Alabama. "He had a very good outing last week and he's locating a little better," said Dean. "He got out of a couple of key situations last week."

The Privateers will turn around and play Jackson State in Jackson on Apr. 20. It is one of nine road games UNO will face in the month of April. After the Tuesday affair at home, UNO travels to Troy for a non-conference series that begins on Friday, Apr. 1.

Jay Robinson is one of three players for the Privateers who has 10 multi-hit games. Robinson achieved his tenth game of two or more hits in the series opener against Lamar when he went 2-for-3. Robinson took over the team lead in batting average and is hitting .370 heading into the week. Robinson also was moved up to the two hole in the order in the series finale at Lamar.

Jackson State is coached by Omar Johnson who is in his tenth season with the team. In 2014, Johnson guided the Tigers to their first ever postseason victory against Louisiana-Lafayette. Johnson has 281 wins heading into the week.

The Tigers enjoyed a big weekend offensively against Alabama A&M during the course of a three-game sweep. Jackson State recorded 52 runs and scored 20 or more in two games of the series. The Tigers lead the SWAC in batting average (.305) and runs scored (195). Jackson State is also second in the SWAC in home runs with 20.

Season tickets for the 2016 campaign are available for as low as $125 and single-game tickets start at $5. For additional information, contact the UNO Athletics Ticket Office at (504) 280-GAME (4263) or click HERE.
