NEW ORLEANS – With a vociferous crowd in attendance, the University of New Orleans women's tennis team (15-5) cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Xavier Gold Nuggets (8-13) to complete an unblemished home mark on Senior Day at the University Tennis Center.

Before the match,
Soledad Calderon Arroyo and
Hafsa Laraibi were recognized for their four and three years respectively on the Lakefront. Both played roles in a total team effort to give UNO a 9-0 mark at home during the spring season.

In doubles, Laraibi and
Yasmine Rashad were the first to finish. The tandem playing at No. 3 took the first game and never looked back while running to a 6-1 victory to set the tone. The doubles point was clinched at No. 1 doubles.

Anja Luethi and
Trang Dao were strong on serve early, holding their first two service games including the second at love to go up 2-1. After each side traded a service break, Luethi and Dao turned up their play to vanquish the group of Brion Flowers and Brandi Nelson 6-2 to put the Privateers ahead 1-0 heading into singles.

Once in singles action, UNO had firm control early. Dao and Rashad won their first sets easily and Rashad went on to a clean sweep victory of 6-0, 6-0. Dao also finished early with a 6-0, 6-1 win of her own. The match clincher was earned by Luethi who defeated Nelson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

In their final home matches, both seniors shined once more for the home crowd. Calderon won 6-1, 6-2 and Laraibi outlasted Sha'Nel Bruins 6-4, 6-3. Going for the sweep, it was
Anna Segarra Rius who capped it off. After a long first set, Segarra outlasted Charlene Goreau 6-4, 6-4 to finish off the seventh 7-0 sweep of the year.

The Privateers will now gear up for the conference tournament in Nacogdoches, Texas where they will face McNeese State in the first round on Friday.
