THIBODAUX, La. – The University of New Orleans women's tennis team (13-4, 6-3 Southland) kept the momentum from the week going in a 6-1 victory over the Nicholls Colonels (6-17, 1-9) on Friday at the Renaissance Family Fitness Center on Friday.

The Privateers earned the doubles point by picking up victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Anja Luethi and
Trang Dao were the first to finish with a 6-3 victory at No. 2. The first point was sealed when
Hafsa Laraibi and
Yasmine Rashad worked their way to a 6-4 win at No. 3.

In singles, UNO kept it rolling with five victories. The first three matches to finish all went the Privateers' way after UNO pulled a victory earlier in the week against Louisiana Tech. Luethi won a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Isla Brock and Dao dominated her second set in a 6-4, 6-1 win over Laia Charles.

Anna Segarra Rius earned the match finishing point over Julia Melendez. Segarra was on her way with a 6-1 first set. The second set went much longer, but Segarra was able to finish the deal with a 7-5 set victory.

Laraibi and Rashad also earned singles wins for UNO. Laraibi won a 6-3, 6-0 match over Clemence Krug and Rashad outlasted Andrea Mastrippolito in a second set tiebreak by an 8-6 count to finish off a straight set victory.

UNO will face conference foe, McNeese State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
