@Privateers_BSB Begins Southland Conference Play with Southeastern Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans (6-7) will open up its 2018 Southland Conference schedule by facing the preseason No.2 Southeastern Louisiana (9-5) in a three game set. The Friday and Saturday games will be played at Alumni Field at 6 p.m. The series will then shift back to Maestri Field on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Privateers fought back against Tulane on Tuesday after giving up a late game lead, but came out the victors in walk-off fashion scoring on a wild pitch for an 8-7 win.
 
Jay Robinson was the star of the night after going 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, his first career grand slam, and five RBI. Owen Magee and Collin Morrill added two hits apiece and Kenneth Yetter walked three times.  
 
ABOUT NEW ORLEANS
Willis extended his consecutive games on-base streak to five games and is now hitting .417 with eight RBI and eight runs scored. Magee and Beau Bratton are hitting at .341 and .333 respectively. Magee co-leads the team in home runs with three.
 
Head coach Blake Dean will send the ace Bryan Warzek (1-0) to the mound on Friday. The southpaw has a 1.47 ERA with 32 strikeouts in three starts on the season. Reeves Martin (0-1) will get the ball on Saturday. The righty has a 3.60 ERA with 11 strikeouts on the year.
 
ABOUT SOUTHEASTERN LOUISISANA
The Lions have five players that are hitting over .300 on the season. They are led by junior outfielder Mike Taylor with a .356 batting average with 13 RBI, four doubles and homer on the season.
 
Southeastern will counter with Right hander Josh Green on Friday. The righty is 2-1 in three starts with a 4.00 ERA and seven strikeouts.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UNO leads the all-time series against Southeastern at 59-42. The last win came in the 2017 Southland Conference Tournament 7-4. Martin got the win after tossing 3.2 innings in relief giving up an unearned run. Christopher DeMayo was credited with the save after going 3.0 innings of four hit, two run ball, with five strikeouts.
