Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – On the back of a strong pitching performance by
John Michael Stephens the University of New Orleans (18-24) defeated the #21 University of Texas (28-15) 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Disch-Falk Field.
Stephens (3-3) earned the win after 6.2 innings of work scattering seven hits and giving up only a run and fanning three. UT starter Blair Henley (5-5) was tagged with the loss going 5.1 innings giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Reeves Martin came in a shut the door for his 6
th save of the season after going 2.1 innings.
Beau Bratton extend his hitting to 13 games after going 2-4 with a run scored. Seven other batters collected a hit in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers got the scoring started in the third with three runs, after
Owen Magee drew two out walk moved up on a Bratton single and they both came home on an error by the Longhorn centerfielder Tate Shaw. UNO added one more on a double by Howard for a 3-0 lead.
The Blue and Silver extended the lead to four on a
Jay Robinson single up the middle.
The Horns cut into the lead in the seventh on a home run by Ryan Reynolds, but the Privateers took game three 4-1.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Privateers travel to Lafayette to take on the Ragin' Cajuns Wednesday evening first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
