NEW ORLEANS – Just one game back of the final spot in the Southland Conference tournament, the University of New Orleans (21-28, 10-14 Southland) takes on Nicholls State University (23-27, 11-13 Southland) at Maestri Field Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. before making the trip to Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
The Privateers are currently in ninth place in the standings, one game back of Nicholls, who holds the final spot in the tournament.

ABOUT NEW ORLEANS
Owen Magee continues to lead the club in batting with a .327 batting average with 68 hits (fifth in SLC), five homers, three triples, 13 doubles, 28 runs scored and 30 ribbies. 
Beau Bratton extended his reach base safely streak to 20 games last weekend against HBU and is now hitting .301 on the season with two home runs, four triples (T-fourth in SLC), 10 doubles, a team-high 33 runs scored and 30 RBI.
 
Getting the start on Friday, 
Brayson Smith has lowered his ERA by over three runs in his last six appearances. During the stretch, he has given up three runs or less in all games. 
Bryan Warzek is ranked 12
th in the nation and second in the conference in strikeouts at 103 in 73.1 innings of work and holding opponents to a .210 batting average. He will get the start on Saturday. 
John Michael Stephens rounds out the weekend rotation.
 
ABOUT NICHOLLS
The Colonels have four players over the .300 clip, led by Joey Morales'.345 with a pair of home runs, one triple, 11 doubles, 33 runs scored and 33 RBI. Chet Niehaus follows with a .339 average and a team-leading seven homers, 11 doubles and 44 runs scored. Brady Bell (.311) and Ethan Valez (.307) round out the list.
