NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans head women's basketball coach
Keeshawn Davenport continued to add to the 2018 signing class with the addition of Holmes Community College guard
Vaquela Pimpton. A 5-8 guard from Webb, Mississippi, Pimpton averaged 9.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.
Defensively, her 2.1 steals per game paced the squad. As a freshman in 2016-17, she averaged 10.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 dimes and 1.3 steals.
"I felt like they wanted me at UNO and I can fit in with coach Davenport's system," said Pimpton. "The coaches made me feel welcome and I am excited about the next two seasons in New Orleans. The system fits my skillset."
Holmes head coach Jamilah Andrews echoed her statements.
"I'm excited for Vaquela. This is a well-earned opportunity for her. Her ability to get to the basket and create shots and her leadership on the court are huge strengths. She did was she was supposed to do on and off the court and will be able to step in as a leader in New Orleans."
"We welcome Vaquela to our family with open arms," said Davenport. "She adds versatility and experience to our backcourt. Her strengths creating for others and ability to score add to our program. We are excited about our signing class and look forward to seeing our newcomers with our returners this summer."
