Baton Rouge- It's a short week between competitions for the University of New Orleans track and field teams. After an encouraging meet at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama last Sunday, the Privateers head to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Bengal Invitational, Friday, Feb. 1, at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse on the campus of LSU. Events start at 11 a. m.
Two student athletes will attempt to bettered school records they set last week in Birmingham.
Danielle Lorenz, a junior transfer from Arkansas State, set the women's shot put mark at 46'6.25". Freshman Vojislav Gvero broke the record in the men's weight throw with a toss of 59'.

Michael Strong set the program's indoor long jump record twice in Baton Rouge last year. The product of Lusher High School in New Orleans broke the school standard at last year's Bayou Bengal Invitational (23'11.75") and two weeks later broke his own record at the LSU Twilight with a leap of 24'2.50".
Teams attending the Bayou Bengal Invite are: Lamar, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Grambling, Hinds, Meridian, Southern, Southern University –New Orleans, Texas Southern, Tulane, UL-Monroe and UL-Lafayette and LSU.
The Southland Conference Indoor Championships are set for Birmingham, Alabama, Feb. 24-25 at the Birmingham Crossplex Arena.

New Orleans will return to the track Friday, Feb. 8 when they return to Birmingham for the Bulldog Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex. Samford University is the meet's host.
