Baseball Travels to LSU for Final Midweek Game of 2019

BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (28-24) will partake in their final midweek game of the season on Tuesday night when they face the #19 LSU Tigers (31-21) at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

For the fans that cannot make the trip to Baton Rouge, the game will be televised on SEC+ (Links on UNOPrivateers.com).

Collin Morrill was named co-Southland Hitter of the Week on Monday after an 11-for-21 performance in four games. Morrill scored nine runs and had five extra base hits (three doubles, two home runs). Morrill leads the Southland in runs scored with 52 and co-leads the conference in doubles with 18.

QUICK HITS
- This season, New Orleans is tied for second in the Southland in double plays turned (43). In 2018, New Orleans turned 29 double plays (last in Southland).

- Reeves Martin now has the single season saves record to himself after picking up his 14th save of the season in the series finale vs. HBU. Martin has the career saves and appearances record as well. His save total ranks third in the nation behind co-leaders, Garrett Acton (Illinois) and Andrew Gross (UT-Arlington).

- Cortlynn Ramirez picked up his first collegiate win against Southern on 5/7. Ramirez allowed one run on three hits over five innings against the Jaguars.

- New Orleans recorded 90 doubles this season, which ranks tied for third in the Southland, trailing UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Three Privateers have 12 or more doubles this season.

- Jorge Tejeda has made a habit of throwing out runners this year. He's vanquished nine of 24 runners trying to steal against him (37.5 percent). He threw out two runners on 5/7 vs. Southern including Javeyan Williams who had been perfect in stolen base attempts (26-for-26).

ABOUT LSU
- The Tigers avoided a sweep in Fayetteville against the #4 Arkansas Razorbacks after winning 3-2 on Saturday in the series finale. Todd Peterson picked up the win after he pitched four scoreless innings while limiting Arkansas to one hit. The Tigers scored their runs in the eighth on a three-run homer by Antoine Duplantis.

- Daniel Cabrera was drafted out of high school in the 26th round by San Diego but decided to come to LSU. Cabrera had a big impact in his freshman season, hitting .315 with eight homers, 18 doubles, and 54 RBI. He racked up postseason awards including becoming a Freshman All-American according to five publications. This season, Cabrera leads the Tigers in home runs with 11 and is hitting .296. 23 of his 50 hits this season have gone for extra bases.

- LSU is 8-5 in midweek contests this year. The Tigers are also 3-2 against Southland opponents this year. They have defeated Lamar, Southeastern, and Nicholls. Their losses within the conference have come against Northwestern State and McNeese.
