Baseball Top-50 List Week in Review: Week 4

NEW ORLEANS – The third week of the Top 50 reveal finished up our look at outfielders. Eight former New Orleans Privateers were announced during the week. 11 total outfielders made the list. Stuart Weidie, Ted Wood, and Darrell Nicholas were announced last week.
 
OUTFIELDERS
The remaining eight outfielders announced were: Randy Bush, Joey Butler, Brian Devalk, Michael Epping, Roy Hyer, Mike Quade, Scott Schwaner, and David Ward.
 
Epping-All-American and 1st Team All-Sun Belt selection in 2006 when he hit .400 with 8 HR, 58 RBI, and added 42 steals.
 
Ward-5th in program history in runs scored with 186. He also accrued 88 career stolen bases. In 1987, Ward hit .336 with 17 doubles, 7 triples, and 6 homers.
 
Butler-2nd Team All-Region and All-Sun Belt selection in 2008. He went on to make his Major League debut with the Texas Rangers in 2013.
 
Bush-had a spectacular season for the Privateers in 1979. That included hitting .369 with 18 homers and 77 RBI. Randy was later inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
 
Hyer-was part of the first Privateers squad and hit .365 for his career. That mark lands him in 5th in program history in career batting average.
 
Devalk-career slugging percentage of .634 in two seasons. He also racked up 76 RBI in 1982. Devalk hit .375 as a Privateer.
 
Schwaner-3rd in career homers (37) and 7th in runs scored (181). He also holds the program record for career doubles with 54.
 
Quade-hit .396 as a senior in 1979. He went on to become the Sun Belt Tournament MVP. He also had 43 career stolen bases.
 
NEXT UP
The remaining two weeks will be spent looking at the pitchers that made the list. The first group of hurlers will be announced Tuesday and Thursday.
