NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women's basketball program has announced another road contest as the Privateers will travel to Jacksonville State to take on the Gamecocks on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. CT in the Pete Mathews Coliseum.
It will be just the fifth meeting between the two programs in school history. The game will be featured for fans to watch on ESPN+.
The last two matchups have proved exciting as the Gamecocks took the last meeting by a 59-54 margin back on Nov. 30, 2017 while the Privateers captured an 81-79 win on Nov. 22, 2016.
New Orleans is coming off one of the best seasons in program history. The Privateers advanced to the Southland Postseason Tournament for the fourth straight year and posted the program's highest win total since 1992-93. Included in that mark were 12 Southland victories, the most conference wins for the program in a single-season in school history.
Jacksonville State recorded a 14-16 record last year and advanced to the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Gamecocks defended their home court well last season, with a 10-4 mark in Jacksonville.
As of now New Orleans has 22 contests on the 2020-21 schedule (not counting the season-opener against Louisiana that has been canceled). There is still a big non-conference game in the works.
