NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women's basketball program, fresh off a season-opening win at Texas State, will head to Starkville for a showdown with nationally ranked No. 6 Mississippi State on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 PM CT at the Humphrey Coliseum.

The game will be streamed nationally on SEC Network + on Watch ESPN.

The Privateers will look to shock the basketball world with an upset, the first over a team ranked in the top-five in the country since a 66-63 win against then No. 4 Louisiana Tech back on January 11, 1997.

New Orleans picked up a victory in its season and home-opener this past Saturday against visiting Texas State behind a career-high 28 points from senior guard Jada Duncantell. Junior guard Traya Bruce chipped in 12, on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, while sophomore guard Mia Deck also finished in double figures with 12.

It was the first victory over the Bobcats in school history and the first win in a season-opening game against a NCAA Division I opponent since the 2009-10 season.

Coming into the game against the Bulldogs, the Privateers find themselves ranked with some of the best in the country in blocked shots per game (24th in the nation/six per contest), field goal percentage defense (25th/29.7 percent), turnovers forced (40th/22) and three-point defense (67th/22.7 percent).

It continues the strong defensive trend of last season that saw New Orleans finished 19th in the country in turnovers forced, 35th in opponent three-point percentage and 85th in blocked shots per game.

Mississippi State is 11-3 overall against New Orleans, which includes a winning-streak of the past 10 matchups, dating back to 1994.
