FRISCO, Texas –
Collin Kulivan earned Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors as announced Tuesday afternoon by the Southland. He becomes the fourth pitcher to win the conference's weekly award since 2018.
Kulivan nailed the door shut in both wins against Southern over the weekend. He recorded five strikeouts over 2.2 innings pitched spanning his two appearances.
In the series opener, Kulivan entered with bases loaded, two outs and the leadoff hitter, Judah Wilbur at the plate. With the tying run on first, Kulivan got a strikeout of Wilbur to end the frame. The Privateers added two more runs in the bottom of the frame in a 10-5 win.
The New Orleans native repeated the feat on Sunday in the series finale in nearly the same situation. With the tying run at the plate and two outs, Kulivan again got a strikeout to end the Jaguars rally in the eighth inning.
Kulivan becomes the fifth different pitcher to win the conference's weekly award since the Privateers joined the Southland. He joins
Chris Turpin,
Brandon Mitchell, Bryan Warzek, and Shawn Semple.
Luke Marbach of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the Southland Hitter of the Week.
The Privateers start a four-game week against Tulane on Tuesday night at Turchin Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Details on where to tune in
