NOTES
The Privateers participated in the Andre Dawson Classic for the fifth time in the last seven years. New Orleans is now 12-3 in the Classic after sweeping last weekend's games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Grambling and Alabama State. It was also the first time in the
Blake Dean era the Privateers had back-to-back run rule victories.
Amani Larry leads the conference in runs scored through the first weekend after he scored seven in the opening weekend. Larry also added five walks and stole two bases along with a home run and five RBI in nine at-bats.
The five runs allowed by Privateer pitching last weekend was the fewest allowed in a weekend by New Orleans pitching since the MLB Urban Youth Invitational when the Privateers also allowed five runs.
All-time against current members of the Big 12, the Privateers are 14-34. The Jayhawks are the first of two opponents from the Big 12 the Privateers will play this season. They also travel to Norman to face Oklahoma.
Collin Horton and
Dylan Porter combined for 9.1 scoreless innings in their respective first starts as Privateers. Porter struck out seven in four innings against Grambling while Horton threw 5.1 frames and allowed two hits.
