KENNER, La. – The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team battled hard in a pair of matches but were defeated 3-2 by the Spring Hill Badgers and the Southeastern Lions on Friday at Coconut Beach.
SPRING HILL-3 NEW ORLEANS-2
The Privateers took matters down to the wire but a fast start at flight three in the third set secured a victory for the Badgers.
Kyla Shappell and Leanne Sorrel got out to a 7-2 lead in the third set of the match decider. The Privateers battled back to cut that advantage to 12-10 but Shappell and Sorrel spurted again, scoring the next three points to take the win.
Valerie Vujnovich and
Liz Gialanella provided a point at flight five after winning in straight sets 21-17, 21-16. Also,
Lucie Pokorna and
Ania Esarte held through extra rallies of the first set and wound up winning 23-21, 21-14.
SOUTHEASTERN-3 NEW ORLEANS-2
It was another grind that saw four matches go to three sets but the Lions notched a win against the Privateers to close out their week in Kenner.
New Orleans got points at flight one and three. Pokorna and Esarte won the third set of their match 15-13. Meanwhile,
Trinity Jackson and
Alexa Spartz held through the third set by a score of 15-11.
Southeastern won the other two matches that went to three sets. At flight four, Avery Carroll and Linsey Sackett won their third set 15-9. Eryn Wilks and Mabry Ward posted a 15-10 score line in the third set of their match.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will head to Monroe next Friday and Saturday for the ULM Invitational.
